Dance is a physical art. Difficulties arise when it becomes necessary to adjust a pupil’s body and lines to facilitate accuracy of technique. Permission is sought from the pupil before and physical correction is made. Pupils are taught with correct ratio of teacher/pupil.
Children under 8 years of age are not left in school without a parent/carer in attendance.
No pupil is escorted into the public toilets by any of the teachers.
Photographs may only be taken with permission from all parents/carers of pupils concerned.
Parents/carers are responsible for escorting their children into and out of school.
Teachers will not and may not adjust leotards/tights etc, but shoes, laces and ribbons can be adjusted or changed.
Private lessons: These are given on a one to one basis and often without parent present. All pupils/parents will be given a form to sign agreeing to instruction on a one to one private basis.
Parents must inform all teachers of health concerns/allergies. For example, asthma, diabetes, epilepsy.
Teachers in the school hold a current First Aid certificate and are trained in first response.
